Why Sustainable Gas Matters For LPG Users

Based on the UK Government greenhouse gas conversion factors (2025) (kg CO₂e per kWh, gross calorific value basis):

  • LPG has up to 20% lower emission intensity than fuel oil
  • LPG has up to 16% lower emission intensity than gas oil
  • LPG has up to 13% lower emission intensity than kerosene

This means that:

LPG has up to 13–20% lower carbon emissions than heating oil*.

Similarly, when compared with coal:

  • LPG has approximately 30–38% lower emission intensity than coal*.

LPG also produces negligible particulate matter compared with coal and heating oil, which can help improve local air quality.
